Opera ASA

Introducing the Opera 9 Browser

Abstract

Opera started out as a research project in Norway's largest telecom   company, Telenor, in 1994, and branched out into an independent   development company named Opera Software ASA in 1995. Opera Software   develops the Opera Web browser, a high-quality, multi-platform product for   a wide range of platforms, operating systems and embedded Internet   products.

In spring 2005 Opera Software announced the Opera 8, the first publicly   available Web browser with native SVG support enabled per default and with   support for SVG Tiny 1.1, a subset of SVG 1.1 defined by the W3C? .

Opera 9, which is to be released soon as public beta, promises support for   SVG 1.1 Basic, including full SVG DOM support, styling with CSS and XSLT,   filters, clipping and masks and much more.

In this presentation, which will be largely focused on Opera 9, I will   show some of the things that can be done with SVG in a Web browser   environment, as well as explain how to solve some of the most common   problems one may have when creating SVG content for the Opera browser. * soft-copy-svginopera9.rar: Talk for EU SVG Workshop May 2006
